NEW DELHI: In what is likely to be a bug, Apple is officially letting iPhone users downgrade their OS versions from iOS 11. As spotted by 9to5 Mac, the Cupertino-based tech firm is signing iOS 10 version updates for several devices including iPhone 6, iPhone 6 and iPhone 7 smartphone, as seen on IPSW.me. With this, users are able to downgrade their eligible iPhone handsets from iOS 11 to iOS 10.2 and 10.3. If you are one of those users who is not satisfied with the current iOS 11 version and want to use the older version, now is the time. Since this is said to be a bug, Apple is likely to resolve it quickly. This move comes as a surprise because the Apple usually stops signing older iOS version once the new once is rolled out to users. Downgrading may also solve the recent issue of Apple limiting the throttle speeds of the processor in order to save the battery. The company confirmed that with each iOS update it slowed down the processor of the smartphone to save the battery. By downgrading to an older OS version, users might be able to restore the performance level of the device. For iPhone 7 users, downgrading from iOS 11.2 to any older version will bring back the smartphone's original performance level. Apple added this behaviour to iPhone 7 with iOS 11.2 rollout. Although it would bring back the original performance rate of the device, downgrading the OS version will also strip off the handset with new features and possibly will leave it vulnerable to certain bugs. On a related note, two Apple iPhone batteries caught fire in two days in different locations across the globe. While the first incident took place in Zurich, the other took place in an Apple Store in Valencia, Spain.
